Description

Behind the imposing door of Perge its agora, its baths, its mosaics; the city of Artemis conquered by the charm of St. Paul. Aspendos one of the most beautiful theaters in the Roman world, especially one of the best preserved in Asia Minor with its 15,000 seats.

The city of Perge was founded on both sides of the Kestros (Aksu) river, 17 km inland from the sea, thus enjoying a location envied by all. Sheltered from any hostile design, it quickly became one of the most important cities of Pamphylia. It is, in fact, one of the finest examples of Hellenistic-Roman town planning in the country, thanks to a fairly clear space: colonnaded way, city walls and gates, baths, fountains, agora, theater, stadium.
